How to Find the Right Cosmetic Surgeon

Cosmetic Surgery

If you have come to the decision to have cosmetic surgery, whether big of small, finding the right clinic and surgeon is an absolute must. Having cosmetic surgery is a huge decision to come to and will cost a great deal of your well earned cash as well as being a nerve wrecking time. So you want the process to go as smoothly as possible and get exactly what you pay for. Generally the person that can refer you to a good cosmetic surgeon with a good reputation is your own GP. So this is the first step you should take. Advantages of this will be that the GP and the cosmetic surgeon can confer about your medical history and recovery process if needs be. Alternatively if you would rather look for your own surgeon there are a few steps that you can take to make sure you are putting yourself in experienced hands.

Finding a Good Surgeon

Firstly make sure that no matter how well you have done your research into a particular surgeon, you still get to meet them in person before the operation. This is an absolute must and if you don?t get the chance to meet them do not have the operation with them. The surgeon can give valuable help and advise that other staff at the clinic will not be able to give. The General Medical Council (GMC) holds a list of plastic surgeons that have at least six years experience in plastic surgery on top of their basic training and your surgeon should be registered with them. Also The British Association of Plastic Surgery?s member list consists of all those surgeons already registered with the GMC who regularly perform cosmetic surgery work. The surgeon themselves should be able to answer all of your questions in a manner that in clear and that you understand. They should be able to show examples of work they have done before. If you are not happy with what you find for any reason then trust your own instincts and leave. The choice of clinic is also important.

The Right Clinic

It’s one thing to find the right surgeon for the procedure but if they work in a clinic that you are unhappy with then, again, you must make arrangements for your operation elsewhere. The clinic that is decided upon should be long standing with a great reputation for good work, fantastic facilities, good aftercare procedures and have a high standard of hygiene. At the end of the day it is important to get what you are paying for whilst feeling comfortable and in safe hands throughout the whole process.
